Street Smarts

Alison Wood Handbags

wood you be mine?

You’re no superstitious nutjob, but there’s no harm in knocking on wood.

Especially if it could land you a handbag from Alison Wood, a new line of sleek carryalls. The designer has really hit the mark: The bags have a hipster edge yet are still totally chic.

Appropriately, each is named after a downtown Manhattan street. Mercer, Bank, and Perry are savvy, simple shoppers. Crosby and Mulberry are slouchy, laid-back hobos. And the Bowery bucket with zipper accents just friggin’ rocks.

The muted palette of midnight blue, black, brown, and ecru lambskin just adds to the overall awesomeness. The fact that you can score such craftsmanship for $300-$550?

That’s just downright lucky.
