Snug and My Little Pumpkin Kids Boutiques Open

Once upon a time in Highland Park there was a beautiful retail space. But it lay vacant.

“Boo hoo!” the children cried. “We need a kids’ shop!” exclaimed parents.

Then — poof! — with the wave of a magic wand (and six years’ experience as interior designers), childhood friends Stacy Bankier and Emily Kopp opened Snug boutique. They filled it with custom crib bedding, baby gifts, and antique-chic decor plucked from flea markets. "Rose's Garden," by Peter Reynolds

The Big Dig inspired a lot of colorful language, none of which you’d share in polite company.

But good things came from it, like the Rose Kennedy Greenway. So you won’t have to bite your tongue when reading Rose’s Garden, the children’s book dedicated to the Kennedy clan’s matriarch.

Author/illustrator Peter Reynolds (who worked on the Judy Moody books, among others) gives us a sweet tale about the adventures of a girl who collects seeds from around the world. She discovers a lonely patch of Boston ground, settles down, and starts planting.

You can guess the ending.
